Up for Sale: A selfing of Cattleya labiata var. rubra ’Schuler’, an exceptional clone. I do not have an image of ’Schuller’ but show another clone that is a very good approximation of ’Schuller’. You can see a large number of images of this clone on the internet if you search for it. The seedlings are growing in a 16 oz plastic flask that is shown in the images with the tape measure. [4594]Contents: Approximately 15 seedlings that are ready to come out of flask.The Species: This grows in Venezuela and Brazil at elevations between 2000 and 3000 feet. It will produce up to five flowers per inflorescence. A well grown plant can have 6 to 9 flowers with an average blooming carrying 3 to 5 flowers. The flowers of this species are 5 to 7" across and are long-lasting and wonderfully fragrant. Culture: This is considered a warm growing species, but has done very well in my greenhouse with a 56 F minimum night and 80 to 85° daytime. It hangs up high in the greenhouse so it gets quite bright light. It is allowed to dry between waterings. I grow it in medium bark in a plastic pot. I used to grow all of my cattleyas in baskets, but found the roots were so entangled that it was difficult to repot or divide the plants when the time came. Your plant will be packed very carefully, but I cannot guarantee that flowers or spikes will be intact on receipt. About this flask: I take great pride in producing flasks with strong seedlings that are ready to come out of flask and have a very good survival rate. The survival of these seedlings is dependent on the conditions where they will be growing and the skill of the grower. If you are new to deflasking seedlings (or just want to see how I do it) you may want to take a look at my webpage with suggestions for taking seedlings out of flask. If you want to see it, just do a search for the phrase “deflasking suggestions.Shipping seedlings: After a bit of experience shipping flasks, I have decided that deflasking before shipping is probably the safest for the plants. I will shake off most of the medium, treat them with beneficial microbes and fungicide and put them in a zip bag. If your prefer to have them shipped in flask you must let me know that. Whether they are in flask or bagged, you should be prepared to pot them up shortly after receiving.Shipping & Handling Charge: It is the buyer’s responsibility to check the weather in the delivery area and let me know if special precautions are necessary.Packing and shipping for the first plant or flask is US $13.95; additional plants or flasks in the same shipment are only $1.50 each. I usually ship on Monday/Tuesday or Saturday after receipt of payment. The plants need to be dry to ship safely and that can take several days. I most often ship USPS, but can use FedEx 2nd Day Air if you prefer. There may be an extra charge for FedEx.Your item will be shipped with a tracking number so you can see its progress. Insurance for $50 is included in Priority Mail.If you want your item held, DO NOT pay the eBay invoice.
